The Scientific Committee invites all interested individuals to submit abstracts for the 6th International Hybrid Rice Symposium.  Individuals who have conducted extensive research on hybrid rice can submit abstracts under the following topics:

  • Hybrid Rice Development
  • Hybrid Rice Seed Production
  • Applications of Molecular Technology
  • Crop and Resource Management
  • Hybrid Rice Economics

Accepted abstracts will be selected for Oral or Poster presentations and will be published in the conference proceedings.

Important Dates:

Online Abstract Submission open: 15 February 2012
Abstract Submission Extended: 1 June 2012
Early-bird Registration Deadline: 15 June 2012
Acceptance Notification: 27 July 2012
Authors Registration Deadline: 15 August 2012
Regular Registration Deadline: 30 August 2012


Abstract Submission Rules:
All abstracts must only be submitted online via the Conference website www.ricecongress.com. Abstracts submitted by fax, email, or post will NOT be accepted. In submitting the abstract, the author grants the 6th International Hybrid Rice Symposium organizers the right to publish the abstract both in hard and electronic forms.

Abstract Submission Deadline:
All abstracts must be submitted on or before 15 May 2012. The online submission system will be closed at 24:00, 15 May 2012, Bangkok Time (+7 GMT). All abstracts submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Abstract Acceptance Notification:
Notice of acceptance/rejection will be sent via email to the corresponding authors on or before 27 July 2012. If the abstract is accepted, author will have until 15 August 2012 to register for the symposium.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

    • Abstracts must be written exclusively in English
    • Author may choose between 2 modes of presentations:

A)   Oral Presentation
B)   Poster Presentation

    • Abstract must be limited to 250 words and must be concise and clear, highlighting the most relevant aspects, findings and conclusions.
    • Use only standard abbreviations. Special or unusual abbreviations are not recommended. If otherwise necessary, the latter should be placed in parenthesis after the first appearance of the full word, except for unit symbols. Numeral rather than words may be used to indicate numbers.
    • The Abstract should be submitted in text only file.
    • The body of the abstract should be structured under the following headings:

-   Introduction: Background/Purpose
-   Methodology
-   Results
-   Discussions and Conclusions

Travel Grant Sponsorship:
Travel grant sponsorship will be given to qualified abstract presenters. Accepted abstract authors are invited to apply for travel grant sponsorship. Travel grants will be awarded based on the following criteria:

    1. Abstract submitter must come from a developing country identified by the World Bank.
    2. He/she must be a national working in a public institute or public university in the developing country. Presenters working for an international institute based in a developing country will not be qualified.
    3. Oral presenters will be given priority over poster presenters.
